Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about RecallPing.

Can't I just check recalls.gov for free?
You can — but you'd have to check four separate agencies, manually scan each recall against your household's products, and remember to do it daily. RecallPing automates all of that. Our Free plan ($0) gives you email alerts, and the Household plan ($34.99/year) adds push notifications, barcode scanning, and more.
How quickly will I get alerted?
We check for new recalls every 5 minutes. When a match is found, your push notification and email go out within minutes. Most users hear from us before they see it on the news.
What if I don't get any alerts?
That's a good thing — it means none of the recent recalls affected your household. Your weekly digest will show you exactly how many recalls we filtered out for you, so you'll always know the service is working.
Is my data safe?
Your profile data is encrypted and stored securely. We never sell your information. We use it for one purpose only: matching recalls to your household. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What's included in the free plan?
The free plan includes email alerts for all four federal agencies (FDA, USDA, CPSC, NHTSA), up to 5 profile items, and a basic weekly digest. You get the same recall matching engine as Household plan users — the alerts come via email. Upgrade for barcode scanning, household sharing, and more.
Can I upgrade from Free to Household?
Yes! You can upgrade anytime from your dashboard settings. When you upgrade, you'll immediately get access to the barcode scanner, household sharing, VIN tracking, My Stuff tracking, and the full enriched weekly digest. A 30-day free trial is included.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel in one click from your billing portal. No cancellation fees, no hoops. If you cancel during your free trial, you won't be charged.
Which agencies do you monitor?
We monitor all four major federal recall agencies: FDA (food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices), USDA FSIS (meat, poultry, eggs), CPSC (consumer products, baby gear), and NHTSA (vehicles and car seats).
How does the vehicle recall matching work?
Add your vehicle's make, model, and year to your profile. We match against NHTSA campaign numbers for that exact vehicle. You can also add your VIN for more precise matching.
What happens when my free trial ends?
After 30 days, your card on file is charged $34.99 for the year. You'll receive a reminder email a few days before the charge. If you cancel before the trial ends, there's no charge. You can also downgrade to the Free plan anytime to keep basic email alerts at no cost.
Can I add multiple family members' information?
Yes — your profile can include brands, allergens, vehicles, and medications for your entire household. There's no per-person limit.
How do I manage push notifications?
You can toggle push notifications on or off in the app settings. You can also manage notification preferences from your account settings on the web. Changes take effect immediately.
